Insulation Removal in Virginia Beach

Sometimes the answer isn’t adding more insulation—it’s getting rid of what’s already there. Old, damaged, or contaminated insulation can actually make things worse.

We’re Level Home Pros. This isn’t the glamorous part of the insulation business, but it’s necessary work and we do it right.

When Does It Need to Go?

Rodents are the big one. Mice, rats, squirrels—they love attic insulation. They nest in it, poop everywhere, and create a genuine health hazard. Once critters have been in there, that insulation needs to come out. There’s no cleaning it.

Water damage is another. Roof leaks, condensation, plumbing issues—if the insulation got soaked, it’s probably lost its R-value and is growing mold. Out it goes.

Age and deterioration. After 30+ years, insulation breaks down. Fiberglass gets matted, cellulose crumbles. Sometimes starting fresh is the best move.

And sometimes we remove insulation just to access things—electrical work, plumbing repairs, whatever. Then we put new stuff back.

Warning Signs

You can see the joists through the insulation (too thin or settled). Droppings, nesting material, or trails. Musty smell in the house. Allergies getting worse. Energy bills creeping up for no reason.

Why Not DIY

Contaminated insulation is a health hazard. Rodent droppings can carry hantavirus. Mold releases spores. Even clean old insulation kicks up fibers you don’t want to breathe.

We use professional vacuum equipment that sucks everything into sealed bags. We protect your living space from contamination. And we know how to do this without making a bigger mess.

One thing: we don’t do asbestos. If your house is pre-1990 and you’re worried about that, get it tested first. If it’s positive, you need a specialized asbestos company.

What Happens After

For contaminated spaces, we don’t just pull the insulation and leave. We sanitize and disinfect to get rid of odors, pathogens, and residue. Then we can install fresh insulation.

We offer package pricing for removal and replacement that’s usually cheaper than hiring two separate companies.

Cost

Depends on attic size, insulation type, and contamination level. Free inspections and detailed quotes. Financing through Wisetack, 10% off for military and veterans.

Common Questions

Should I always remove old insulation before adding new?

Not always. If it’s clean, dry, and in decent shape, adding on top is usually fine. If there’s contamination or damage, it needs to come out.

Most jobs are a few days, depending on size and how bad the contamination is.
