Our Insulation Process: The Level Up Attic Restoration System

There are plenty of insulation companies that will blow material into your attic, hand you a bill, and drive away. We’re not one of them.

At Level Home Pros, we built the Level Up Attic Restoration System because we saw a problem in our industry. Homeowners were paying for insulation that didn’t perform — because no one was addressing the real issues first. Our system changes that.

Why Most Insulation Jobs Don’t Last

Here’s what typically happens when you call an insulation company: they come out, blow some insulation into your attic, and leave. On the surface, it looks done. But within a few years, you’re back to the same problems — high energy bills, uncomfortable rooms, and insulation that’s lost its effectiveness.

Why? Because insulation is only one piece of the puzzle. If your attic has air leaks, contamination from pests or mold, or damaged existing insulation underneath the new material — none of that gets fixed by simply adding more insulation on top.

That’s like putting a fresh coat of paint on a wall with water damage. It looks nice for a while, but the real problem is still there. And if you’re seeing signs your home needs new insulation, there’s a good chance this is exactly what happened.

The Level Up Attic Restoration System — Step by Step

Our process addresses every factor that affects insulation performance. Here’s exactly what we do and why each step matters.

Step 1: Inspection and Thermal Imaging

Every project starts with a thorough inspection of your attic. But we go further than most — we use professional-grade thermal imaging cameras to see what’s invisible to the naked eye. These cameras show us exactly where heat is escaping in winter and entering in summer. They reveal gaps, thin spots, and air leaks that a visual inspection alone would miss. This is the same technology we use during our home energy audits.

We also check for moisture damage, mold, pest contamination, and the condition of your existing insulation. This gives us a complete picture of what needs to happen — not just a guess.

Step 2: Sanitization

If your attic has contamination from rodents, insects, mold, or moisture, we clean it up before anything else. We apply sanitization treatments that eliminate bacteria, allergens, and odors. This step protects your indoor air quality and creates a clean foundation for the new insulation.

Most insulation companies skip this entirely. They install new material right on top of contamination. That means the problems you can’t see — the ones that affect the air your family breathes — never get fixed.

Step 3: Mechanical Air Sealing

This is the step that makes the biggest difference, and it’s the one almost everyone else skips. Before we install any insulation, we mechanically seal every air leak in your attic. That includes gaps around pipes, wires, light fixtures, ductwork, top plates, and any other penetration in your ceiling. Learn more about why air sealing is so critical.

Think of it this way: insulation is like a blanket. Air sealing is like zipping up your jacket. The blanket keeps you warm, but only if the wind isn’t blowing right through. Without air sealing, your insulation can lose up to 40 percent of its effectiveness.

We use thermal imaging again after sealing to verify every leak is closed. We don’t move on until we’re confident the air barrier is complete.

Step 4: High-Density Insulation Installation

Once the attic is clean and sealed, we install high-density insulation that outperforms standard materials. We don’t use the cheapest product available — we use insulation rated for long-term performance in Virginia Beach’s hot, humid climate. Whether it’s blown-in insulation or spray foam, the material we choose is matched to your home’s specific needs.

The insulation itself comes with a lifetime product guarantee. Combined with our Lifetime Labor Warranty, you’re fully covered for as long as you own your home.

Why This Approach Works Better

The difference between our system and a standard insulation job comes down to one thing: we fix the cause, not just the symptom.

Standard insulation installation addresses temperature only. Our system addresses temperature, air leakage, moisture, contamination, and air quality — all in one project. That’s why our customers see bigger energy savings, better comfort, and results that actually last.

Homeowners who go through the Level Up process typically see energy savings of 15 to 30 percent. More importantly, they stop dealing with the problems that brought them to us in the first place — hot rooms, cold drafts, stuffy air, and bills that don’t make sense. Curious about costs? Our attic insulation cost guide has the details.

Our Lifetime Labor Warranty

We stand behind every project with our Lifetime Labor Warranty. That means if there’s ever an issue with our workmanship, we come back and make it right — free of charge, for as long as you own your home.

No time limits. No fine print. No hassle. That’s a commitment most insulation companies won’t make, and it’s one of the reasons Hampton Roads homeowners trust us with their homes.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Process

How long does the Level Up process take?

Most projects are completed in two to three days, depending on the size of your attic and the scope of work needed. We’ll give you a clear timeline during your consultation.

Do you always remove existing insulation?

Not always. If your current insulation is clean and in good condition, we can work with it. But if it’s damaged, contaminated, or underperforming, removal is recommended before installing new material.

Is thermal imaging really necessary?

Yes. Thermal imaging shows us problems that are completely invisible during a standard visual inspection. It’s the only way to find every air leak and verify they’re sealed properly. Without it, you’re guessing.

Can you apply this system to crawl spaces too?

The principles are the same — inspect, clean, seal, insulate. We adapt our approach for crawl spaces based on their specific conditions. Learn more about our crawl space insulation services.

What if I just want the insulation without the full system?

We’re happy to discuss your options. But we’ll always be honest with you — if air sealing is needed, we’ll tell you, because we want your project to deliver real, lasting results.
